Many Italians, but also Austrians and Slovenians have gathered in Rivolto to celebrate 50 years of Frecce, which invited to celebrate with them the most prestigious aerobatic teams in the world. An exceptional event, which you could not miss. And in fact, many tourists took advantage of the holiday in Lignano Sabbiadoro to reach Rivolto, about half an hour far from the seaside resort.

The 50th anniversary of Frecce Tricolori was certainly an extraordinary event, which attracted many people in a period when the weather is not always good. But this is not the only event that brightens up the Friulian September, bringing more tourists on the beaches of Lignano Sabbiadoro. In a few days it kicks off the event Friuli DOC in the squares and streets of Udine, a beautiful city an hour’s drive from the Friulian beach. In Lignano final round for the competition "Moda d'Autore"

August, Thursday 5th, takes place the final evening of “Moda d’autore” (Fashion of artists) on the stage of Kursaal in Lignano Riviera. At 9.30 p.m. light up the spot lights on the creations of designers who where selected. A jury assessed the sketches and the pictures of dress that will be exhibited in the final round.

For the second year Lignano hosts the competition “Moda d’autore”, created to promote the work, talent and creativity of all promising fashion designers aged between 18 and 40 years old and of all students. For them has been created a provided category “Moda d’autore…futuro” (Fashion of artists…future). The entries at this competition were opened at the beginning of March and the participants at the final round were selected by a jury of experts, that will also assess the dress in competition and will nominate the winner for both categories August, Thursday 5th.

For the winners and the seconds of both categories there are cash prizes: 500,00 € for the winners and 250,00 € for the seconds. There are also special prizes that the jury can give for special merits.

As the last year, all finalists have the opportunity to take part with their creations in the fashion show “Lignano in…Moda” the next evening, August, Friday 6th at 9.30 p.m. in Piazza Marcello D’Olivo in Lignano Pineta. A great chance to show also to the public the collections and compare on a real catwalk. The fashion show of Friday is the second meeting with the fashion in Lignano Sabbiadoro and it is also the closing evening of this event. Also this year, organizers “modashow.it” wait for a large public on the beautiful Piazza Marcello D’Olivo.

From Thursday, November 12th, to Saturday, November 14th, in Lignano Sabbiadoro will take place the 7th European Judo Championships only for veterans, namely for athletes over 30.

In the seaside resort are expected more than 600 judokas, both men and women, coming from over 40 European countries, that will compete for the title of European champion in team and individual categories.

Saturday, November 14th, always within the European Championship of Judo, there will be also the 2nd Eju Kata “A” Tournament, and the Sunday judges, coaches and athletes will have the chance to attend the International Kata Camp.

The city of Lignano welcomed with great joy the news about the assignment of the 7th Veteran European Judo Championships, an event that consolidates the sporting passion of the seaside resort and an important test for the 2011 European Master Games. Thanks to the modern sports facilities and to the great accommodation facilities with several hotels and apartments, Lignano hosts these very important championships after cities like Saint Petersburg, London and Prague. A great satisfaction for the entire seaside resort and an incentive to the improvement.

Among other, at the end of July, Giusy Ferreri, a singer launched successfully from X-Factor, held a concert exactly in the Beach Arena in Lignano.

If you haven’t reserved your audition through the website of the TV programme, you must go to the B stairs of the Beach Arena. Here you will receive a number and all the useful information for your audition.

Arm yourself with patience, because the two days will be very long: the auditions will begin at 11 a.m. and they will continue all day. It is not only two hot days of auditions, but also a real event also for people that are not interested to become a pop star and that want only enjoy an amusing beach holiday in Lignano.

The fight to enter in this programme is very strong. It is enough to think that until now more than 35,000 aspiring singers have supported an audition during the summer tour. In addition the TV programme begins in September this year, so authors need an exciting voice now.

Lavender Festival in Lignano

The 18th and the 19th of July the city centre of Lignano Sabbiadoro dressed in violet, with large ribbons hanged up on the shops and on the lamps of the centre and a long violet carpet from San Giovanni Bosco Square to Fontana Square.

The beach of Lignano was not planing a “violet night” as many have thought, but the city was getting ready for a special party, the Venzone Lavender Festival.

In addition to the violet colour, that infects guests and shopkeepers of the seaside resort, the city was filled for an entire week end with a strong and relaxing scent of lavender.

On the violet carpet a lot of stands presented both lavender-based typical products and novelties: little bags and plants with nice pots gave off their characteristic scent near flavoured drinks, biscuits, soaps and cosmetics.
That was not only a local street market. The Venzone Lavender Association made a real event on the beach of Lignano, with meetings, folk dances and concerts by candlelight. All that characterized by the violet and by the scent of this incredible plant.

The Lavender Festival called also in Lignano Sabbiadoro the first competition “Violet Bike 2009”, open to all tourists and inhabitants that took part in this contest with their purple bikes.

The Festival was a special event that changed Lignano for an entire week end in a lavender field and it charmed tourists of the seaside resort.

The festival is now closed but the scent of lavender continue to drift through the air of Lignano Sabbiadoro.
